We've heard endless stories about every girl's nightmare: The Ultimate Mama's Boy. However, this story gives those fears a slight twist…Here we have: Our best friend, The Mama's Girl. 

Imagine having a 36-year-old friend who treats her mother as if she were a week-old newborn, unable to be left alone or unattended for less than one second! This isn't something you see every day. We understand if she's the Lorelai to her Rory…In her old age, we visualise 'closeness' and Sunday tea and lifting her to Bridge every Wednesday afternoon. Having her over for dinner every Friday to spend time with the grandkids, even checking in daily to make sure she's taken her meds, instead of flirting with the cute 65-year-old nurse.

But the boundaries of 'closeness' take a different, more terrifying form when she starts bringing her to all your friends' special events uninvited. Suddenly, every wedding, baby shower, and casual Saturday night in has become trying to kindly convince your friend that it is not okay just to invite her mother everywhere she goes, especially if she is not there herself!

    IllustriousWear 1734 OP Yes $650 is correct. It did cover 7 hrs open bar, butler passed apps and a full raw bar during cocktail hour and then a surf and turf dinner with Dover sole and chateaubriand... it was in the Miami at an exclusive club which is why it ended up costing that much. Not trying to be snobby about it but my dad was the one paying for our wedding and had business partners and clients coming soooo he speed no expense

    janus 1981 NTA and YTA. The time to properly bring this up was at your wedding. You avoided it. You should absolutely hold fast to not having her mum at your baby shower. Your major life celebrations are not opportunities for your friend to try and socialise her antisocial mother. You're absolutely not the AH for that.
